Bruno Génésio's and Lille's adventure in this season's UEFA Champions League came to an end in the week as Les Dogues were eliminated by Borussia Dortmund (2-1) on Wednesday night. Yet LOSC can't rest on their laurels as focus now switches to trying to secure their European spot for next season.
Nantes still need the points if they want to steer themselves clear of the threat of a relegation battle, after falling to two defeats against Marseille and Strasbourg following their win over Lens at Stade de la Beaujoire in February.
"Even if we know that Lille will be ahead of us at the end of the season, we have the means for this match. We can do what it takes to shake them up," said Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré during his pre-match press conference.
The start of 2025 has been difficult for AS Monaco, who fell out of the top three as well as suffering Champions League and Coupe de France elimination. Les Monégasques recently dropped points away to Toulouse, and will travel to Stade Raymond Kopa hoping to back on track and find some more consistent form - especially away from home. Only goal difference is keeping ASM above fifth-placed Lille (who play earlier in the day).
Angers meanwhile will be hoping to secure a double over Monaco this season, after they won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Stade Louis II. Yet, SCO go into the fixture having lost their last two league fixtures against Brest and Toulouse, after they were eliminated from the Coupe de France quarter-final.
The fears of being dragged into a relegation battle for both sides have calmed in recent games, but a mid-table clash between Lens and Rennes could mean that either side will be hoping for a top half finish by the end of the season. Will Still's side clinched a vital surprise victory over Marseille last weekend which got the Sang & Or back to winning ways following four straight defeats in the league.
Rennes on the other hand have sealed three wins out of their last five matches under new boss Habib Beye. The Breton side are hoping to get over a 4-1 defeat suffered to PSG last weekend at Roazhon Park.
"Going to Lens, with this crowd, on a football pitch. It really is a great match to play in. When you're left with a negative result, you also want to move forward. That's our ambition for this match, knowing that it's always great to play in Lens."
