Đorđe Petrović: Strasbourg Goalkeeper Has Become Brickwall

The month of February and the first weekend of March was kind to RC Strasbourg's Đorđe Petrović as the shot-stopper has recorded four straight clean sheets, with the latest coming this past weekend in the 1-0 win over AJ Auxerre.

Petrović's strong performances in goal have helped Strasbourg secure three wins in their last four matches, with the only result that wasn't a victory being a draw.

As a result, Liam Rosenior and his team are on a four-match unbeaten streak and fighting for a European competition spot for next season.

Strasbourg (37 points) trail Olympique Lyonnais (39 points) by two points for the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification and are only four points behind LOSC Lille (41 points) for the UEFA Europa League spot for the 2025-26 campaign.

The 25-year-old's best performance in this four match clean sheet run came against AJA, where he made five saves to deny the opposition an opportunity of a goal.

In the last three matches, Petrović has stepped up with timely saves. Whether it's making five stops or just the key ones, the Strasbourg goalkeeper is always ready when called upon as he stated after the win against Auxerre.

"We are on a four-match streak without conceding a goal, I’m really happy about that. We’ve shown everyone our defensive improvement. In the last three games, I didn’t have to make many saves. [On Sunday], it was more complicated, but I did my job. We haven’t really changed the way we play, but we’ve grown together and believed in ourselves."

"I think the most important thing for a goalkeeper is to stay calm and support my teammates. After the goal, we played a bit more defensively. That’s where we need to grow and improve."

Rosenior elaborated more on what has led to this impressive run by and the Strasbourg manager spotlighted the work that Petrović has put behind the scenes that is now translating onto the pitch.

"There are so many strengths in this team, but Petrović came in with amazing experience for such a young goalkeeper! He’s a fantastic keeper. He made some incredible saves, and I’m really happy for him—he also puts in a lot of individual work..."

"Our young players learn quickly, and they showed that again [on Sunday]. That’s four clean sheets in a row, and I can rely on them, even in tough matches. Petrović gets better every day. He plays a key role in our system. At just 25, he’s going to be a great player."

Strasbourg and Petrović will look to continue this impressive run and make it five clean sheets in a row when they head on the road to face FC Nantes at Stade de la Beaujoire.
