Mika Biereth Records Third Straight Home Trick in Monaco Win Over Reims

Behind a third straight home hat trick from Mika Biereth, AS Monaco defeated Stade de Reims 3-0 on Friday night at Stade Louis II.

Toward the latter minutes of the first half, Biereth scored two goals to give the home side a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. On the first goal, With a perfect ball from Caio Henrique, the Dane finished it off with a clinical strike.

That goal in the 34th minute was his eighth in Ligue 1 McDonald’s, all of which came at home. The 22-year-old was only getting started as he recorded a brace in five minutes.

Biereth’s second goal came after Maghnes Akliouche received the ball on the left side of the box and sent in a quick cross. Positioned in front of the goal, Biereth controlled it with a high right leg and, with calm precision, fired an unstoppable shot with his right foot.

Coming out of the halftime break, Biereth again found the back of the net to complete the hat trick for a magical night. The Dane took advantage of a save by Yehvann Diouf to secure a 3-0 win over Reims, completing his third consecutive hat-trick at Stade Louis II.

On a team level, Monaco have now jumped ahead of LOSC Lille (41 points) for fourth place (43 points) which is the UEFA Champions League qualification spot. Adi HĂŒtter and his team can hold onto their position if Les Dogues fall on Saturday to Paris Saint-Germain. A Lille win over PSG would see Monaco drop back to fifth place.

After the match, Akliouche spoke to DAZN and praised Biereth for his spectacular performance against Reims.

"He’s a true No. 9, a poacher in the box. We know if there’s a loose ball or a cross, he’s always there to score, so we try to set him up. He scored three goals today, which is great for what’s ahead."
