Auxerre surprise OM, as Angers grab a late late point against Saint-Étienne.

Saturday evening's action saw nine goals as Saint-Étienne and Angers played out a thrilling 3-3 draw and Auxerre beat off a 10-man Olympique de Marseille side at the Stade Abbé Deschamps.

Saint-Étienne 3-3 Angers: six-goal thriller at Stade Geoffroy Guichard

After a chaotic finish, Saint-Étienne conceded in the dying minutes of injury time as Angers fought back to draw in an entertaining six-goal thriller at Stade Geoffroy Guichard on Saturday afternoon. The visitors took control early, scoring twice in the first 20 minutes through Himad Abdelli. The first came from a 6th-minute penalty, while the second was a rebound from a Niane header that hit the crossbar. Irvin Cardona pulled one back with a powerful header, bringing life back to Geoffroy-Guichard (36').

Ekwah's precise shot from outside the box in the 52nd minute leveled the score at 2-2. Saint-Étienne then completed their turnaround, with Cardona netting his second goal to put ASSE 3-2 ahead (74'). Just as ASSE thought they had secured the win, a stoppage-time penalty was awarded to Angers for a foul on El Melali. Bamba Dieng converted to salvage a dramatic 3-3 draw and a vital point in the battle to stay up (90+3').

Auxerre 3-0 Olympique de Marseille: l'AJA surprise Les Olympiens at Stade Abbé Deschamps

Marseille's unbeaten streak came to a crashing halt as they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of a resurgent Auxerre side at the Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps. Auxerre took the lead in the first half thanks to a spectacular long-range strike from Gaëtan Perrin, who curled the ball into the top corner, leaving Rulli helpless after a mazy run into the box (34'). Les Olympiens thought they found a leveller through Amine Gouiri in the second period, but it would be flagged for offside.

Derek Cornelius was then given a second yellow for a contentious challenge after flicking the ball mid-air, and it no doubt changed the equation in the latter stages of the game. Rulli was then adjudged to have fouled Sinayoko in the box for a penalty, and captain Jubal converted the spot kick to double the hosts' lead (76'). The Auxerre captain then sealed a massive victory for Les Diplomates, in stoppage time - heading home from a corner swung in by Perrin to finish off the game (90').
