Our Editors look back on the Ligue 1 McDonald's Season so far.

The 2024-25 Ligue 1 McDonald's season has reached its halfway point, making it the perfect time to reflect on the standout highlights so far.

Best Match: Lyon 2-3 Marseille

Marseille joined Monaco and PSG at the top of the Ligue 1 McDonald's table following a dramatic Choc des Olympiques at the Groupama Stadium. Roberto De Zerbi's side completed a stunning comeback whilst down to ten men. OL took the lead before Pol Lirola provided a vital equaliser against the run of play. Marseille then went ahead late on via Ulisses Garcia before Rayan Cherki grabbed an equaliser in injury-time. The goals didn't stop there, as Englishman Jonathan Rowe scored a stunning strike in the fifth minute of injury time to grab all three points for Marseille.

Best Goal: Jonathan Rowe for Marseille vs Lyon

For me it's all about the context, and this specific game had such a spectacular finish that I had to choose it for my goal of the season so far. And what a strike it was! The Englishman picked up a bad clearance from OL keeper Lucas Perri before driving and unleashing an unstoppable strike into the back of the net. A winner for OM and De Zerbi in the fifth minute of injury time which secured all three points in one of the games of the season.

Best Transfer: Zuriko Davitashvili (Saint-Étienne)

Whilst Saint-Étienne have found it difficult to adapt to life in Ligue 1 McDonald's this season, one of their summer signings has impressed on the big stage. After joining from Bordeaux, the Georgian international has played in 15 games so far this season - scoring five goals and providing two assists for Les Verts.

Best Moment: Auxerre win on return to Ligue 1

Auxerre has been one of the feel-good stories of the Ligue 1 McDonald's season so far. It all started with a win against OGC Nice in the first game of the season. Last season's Ligue 2 BKT Champions welcomed a new-look OGC Nice side in a festival-like atmosphere at Stade Abbé Deschamps as Les Diplomates celebrated their return to the top flight with a dramatic win against Franck Haise's Aiglons.

Best Tifo: RC Lens vs Montpellier - A Homage to the Sainte-Barbe Tradition

Every 4th of December the city of Lens celebrates Sainte-Barbe, a celebration of the industrial and mining history of Northern France. Supporters of the Sang & Or, including the groups of the Marek and Delacourt stand organised this year's edition with not one but two giant tifos depicting the town's mining past.
