The 2024 CAF Awards were another successful outing for Ligue 1 clubs, with AS Monaco and Senegal's Lamine Camara being awarded the Men's young player of year. The midfielder joined Monaco from Clermont in the summer, and has since become a pivotal figure in Adi Hütter's midfield in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League this season. The Senegal international has played 12 matches this season for Monaco, scoring two goals in Ligue 1 so far. In the Champions League, he has played all six games so far for Les Monégasques.
Whilst Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi was in the running for the CAF Men's player of the year award, he lost out to Atalanta and Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman who followed in the footsteps of last year's winner Victor Osimhen. The Moroccan was however named in CAF's FIFpro Best XI alongside Olympique de Marseille and DR Congo defender Chancel Mbemba. He was also in the top five of the Men's Player of the Year votes.
Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie claimed the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the second year in a row having had another outstanding season for Paris FC's women's side, where she was named D1 Arkema's Goalkeeper of the Season for 2023-24.
