UCL Recap: Monaco Unable to Overcome Bukayo Saka Brace

AS Monaco lost 3-0 to Premier League side Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, thanks to a brace from Bukayo Saka.

It was a tightly contested first half between the two sides, but it was Arsenal that broke the scoreless deadlock thanks to a goal from Saka in the 34th minute off a right-footed shot from the right side of the six-yard box to the center of the goal.

The match went into halftime with the English side holding a 1-0 advantage over Monaco. The second half proved to be another tightly contested matchup between the two teams, but it was late in the final 45 minutes when the Gunners pulled away.

Saka recorded his brace in the 78th minute, scoring off a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner as Arsenal took a 2-0 lead. In the 88th minute, Saka provided the assist on the Kai Havertz goal as the 25-year-old scored off a left-footed shot from the right side of the six-yard box to the top right corner.

Monaco did have seven total shots in the contest but none could beat Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as the home side took a 3-0 victory.

After the match, Lamine Camara spoke to Monaco's platform and shared his thoughts on the challenging loss.

"We were here to win the three points, or at least get a draw if necessary. But coming here, we knew it would be difficult because it’s one of the best clubs in the world. What was positive was our reaction in the second half.

"There are big teams ahead of us that are waiting for us, like Arsenal, and PSG, whom we will face in two weeks. We will try to fix the mistakes we made today and focus on the upcoming matches."
