The international break got off to an exciting start yesterday, and there was no shortage of decisive moments for Ligue 1 McDonald's players, as they took part in qualifying across the globe.

UEFA

Norway got a vital win away to Slovakia in their Nations League match, winning 4-1 with Leo Østigard of Stade Rennais playing 90 minutes  and Aron Dønnum (Toulouse FC) in the eleven as well. Østigard's Rennes teammate, Glen Kamara, fared less well as his Finland side lost to the Republic of Ireland. In Paris, France played out a scoreless draw at home to Israel, with Warren Zaïre-Emery, Bradley Barcola, Randal Kolo Muani (all Paris Saint-Germain) and Adrien Rabiot (Marseille) all involved. Also in France's group, Italy kept a clean sheet thanks to that trio's PSG teammate, Gianluigi Donnarumma, beating Belgium 1-0, while Kevin Danso (RC Lens) helped Austria to a 2-0 win away to Kazakhstan.

AFCON

Racing Club de Strasbourg captain Habib Diarra scored the only goal off the bench as Senegal got a crucial win over Burkina Faso in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, with Moussa Niakhaté (Olympique Lyonnais) and Krépin Diatta (AS Monaco) each playing 90 minutes in defence. Elsewhere, Gabriel Osho (Auxerre) and Moses Simon (FC Nantes) both were involved, but Nigeria could only muster a draw away to Benin. For Tunisia, OGC Nice defender Ali Abdi scored a stoppage-time winner as they won away to Madagascar, 3-2, despite finishing with ten men. In Equatorial Guinea, Algeria and the hosts played out a scoreless draw that saw them both advance, with several Ligue 1 players involved for Les Verts.

Elsewhere

In CONCACAF, Toulouse FC defender Mark McKenzie played 90 minutes as the United States won away to Jamaica in their first-leg Gold Cup quarterfinal.
