Paris Saint-Germain bolstered their defense this past summer with the arrival of Willian Pacho. The 23-year-old already has 12 appearances for Luis Enrique and his team as he becomes a pillar for their defense.
Pacho began his first team career in Ecuador, breaking through the first team at Independiente del Valle in 2019. He'd play with the Ecuadorian side until 2022 and then begin his career in Europe.
The center-back left Independiente del Valle to join Royal Antwerp, but his tenure in Belgium wouldn't last long. He only made 53 appearances before he moved on to his next club: Eintracht Frankfurt.
In Germany, Pacho made 44 appearances for the Bundesliga side, and it was his performances for Frankfurt that caught the eye of PSG. After one season in western Germany, the Ecuadorian moved quickly, this time joining the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
Once his move to PSG was official, Pacho spoke with the club's official website and noted the joy of taking this massive step in his career.
"I'm very happy. I I'm going to work a lot and give my all. It's fantastic, a very strong emotion. It's a completely different level. It's absolutely incredible and I'm going to really enjoying playing for PSG, that's for sure."
"It's a childhood dream. It's a very big club and I'm very happy to be part of this family now. The project is very ambitious, the way of working, the coach, I like everything! When the club contacted me, I didn't hesitate. I am convinced about coming here, I'm going to grow as a person and as a player, and I'll give everything!"
Before seeing the pitch for PSG, Pacho had already made history with his new club as he became the first Ecuadorian to join the French capital club.
"In Ecuador, people really love football, they live it with real passion. And they're very happy to see players from their country in Europe. They'll be very happy to know I'm going to play for Paris Saint-Germain. They'll be 100 percent fans of the club."
Even at a young age, Pacho has already collected several trophies in his career, including league titles in both Ecuador and Belgium. The center-back will look to continue this trend now with PSG.
