Paris Saint-Germain returned from the FIFA international break with a 4-2 win over RC Strasbourg on Saturday night at the Parc des Princes.
The capital club would open the scoring thanks to youngster Senny Mayulu, who tallied his goal in the 18th minute. Mayulu's goal would be the only one in the first half as the two sides went into halftime.
Both sides found their scoring boots in the second half with the Parisians scoring right out of the halftime break. Veteran attacker Marco Asensio scored in the 47th minute to give the home side a 2-0 advantage.
Strasbourg fought in this contest, cutting the deficit in half with a goal from SĂ©kou Mara in the 58th minute. Despite their goal, their efforts to level the scoring fell short.
Bradley Barcola added PSG's third goal in the 66th minute to put the match further out of reach from Strasbourg. Kang-in Lee recorded the reigning Ligue 1 champions' fourth goal in the game in the 90th minute for an insurance goal. The away side scored their second goal in the second half stoppage time as the matchup ended 4-2.
After the match, Mayulu spoke to DAZN to share his reaction regarding his first Ligue 1 goal.
"The coach trusted me to give me a start, and I'm really happy and grateful for that. Scoring feels amazing, like a childhood dream come true. I'm just trying to keep earning more playing time and working hard every day. In the end, it's up to the coach to make his decisions."
Barcola spoke to reporters after the match and noted his happiness for scoring and helping PSG secure the win.
"We're happy with today. We played well and executed the game plan we wanted. We let in two goals that skewed the result a bit, but we scored four and could have had more. We're in the middle of a run of big matches, and we did what needed to be done.
"I've put in a lot of work in front of goal. I'm a striker, my job is to score, and that's what I focus on. We're in a good place right now. I just want to keep winning."
