Olympic Games: How Ligue 1 Players Fared in the Group Stage

The group stage in the football competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics has ended with the quarterfinal stage beginning on Friday. Here's a recap of how the Ligue 1 players fared in the group stage for their respective countries.

Spain:

Arnau Tenas (Pairs Saint-Germain): The 23-year-old started two of three games for Spain, playing against Uzbekistan and the Dominican Republic with both contests resulting in wins. Tenas didn't start the match against Egypt, which the Spaniards lost 2-1.

Morocco:

Eliesse Ben Seghir (Monaco): The Monaco youngster played in all three matches, two as a starter and one as a substitute.

Benjamin Bouchouari (Saint-Étienne): The 22-year-old made two appearances off the bench in the matches against Argentina and Iraq.

Achraf Hakimi (PSG): The PSG star is a leader on this team and started all three matches for Morocco while registering one assist.

Yassine Kechta (Le Havre): Kechta appeared in all three group-stage matches for Morocco but all three appearances came off the bench.

Amir Richardson (Reims): The Reims youngster started all three matches for Morocco and scored one goal in the match against Iraq.

Oussama Targhalline (Le Havre): Targhalline started all three group stage matches for Morocco.

Uzbekistan:

Abdukodir Khusanov (RC Lens): Khusanov started all three matches for Uzbekistan against Spain, Dominican Republic, and Egypt with the squad losing two matches and drawing in another.

Mali:

Lassine Diarra (Lyon): The OL youngster started all three games for Mali between the pipes while only conceding three goals in three matches. Still, Diarra's efforts weren't enough as Mali had two losses and one draw during the group stage.

Thiemoko Diarra (Reims): Diarra started all three matches for Mali and recorded one assist in the 1-1 draw against Israel.

Wilson Samaké (Rennes): The Rennes youngster only featured in one match for Mali during the final group stage match against Paraguay, coming off the bench to play 45 minutes.

Guinea:

Aliou Baldé (OGC Nice): The 21-year-old started all three goals for Guinea and registered one assist in the opening loss to New Zealand.

Issiaga Camara (OGC Nice): Camara played in two of Guniea's three group stage matches, both appearing off the bench.

Ousmane Camara (Auxerre): The 22-year-old appeared in all three matches but only started in the loss to the United States.

Amadou Diallo (Rennes): The 18-year-old started all three matches for Guinea.

Madiou Keita (Auxerre): The defender started all three matches for Guinea.

Soumaïla Sylla (Reims): The 20-year-old started all three games for Guinea between the pipes.

Abdoulaye Touré (Le Havre): A veteran on this team, the Le Havre standout appeared in all three matches for Guinea.

France:

Maghnes Akliouche (Monaco): Akliouche appeared in all three matches for Thierry Henry and his team but only started one of the group stage games.

Rayan Cherki (Lyon): The OL standout only appeared in one match during the group stage, which was the 3-0 win over New Zealand.

Joris Chotard (Montpellier): The 22-year-old appeared in all three group stage contests, two of which came as a starter. Chotard also recorded an assist in the 3-0 win over the United States.

Désiré Doué (Rennes): Doué appeared in all three group stage matches, but only one came as a starter. The teenager recorded a goal in the 3-0 win over New Zealand to close out the group stage.

Arnaud Kalimuendo (Rennes): The Rennes youngster played all three games for France during the group stage and scored a goal in the 3-0 win over New Zealand.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon): A leader on this team, the Lyon veteran has started two matches and resting on the third match against New Zealand. Lacazette scored one goal during the group stage which came in the 3-0 win over the United States.

Bradley Locko (Brest): Locko started one match during the group stage, which came against New Zealand.

Soungoutou Magassa (Monaco): Magassa appeared in two matches during the group stage, with one coming as a starter against New Zealand.

Guillaume Restes (Toulouse): The 19-year-old started the first two group stage matches against the United States and Guinea while resting in the third match against New Zealand. Restes recorded two clean sheets for France in their wins over the USA and Guinea.

Adrien Truffert (Rennes): Truffert started the first two matches for France against the USA and Guinea.
