Switzerland 2-0 Italy: Embolo and Switzerland reach the quarter finals

Switzerland have made back-to-back quarter-finals in the European Championships by sending home the reigning champions Italy after a surprise 2-0 win at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The Swiss found the breakthrough in the 37th minute after Freuler finished on the volley following a stunning first touch.  Paris Saint-Germain stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma would be called upon to deny Breel Embolo and Rieder in the first half, going into the half-time break a goal down.

The second half would start with a bang for Yakin's men, who instantly doubled their lead through striker Vargas with a beautiful curling effort from the edge of the box, just 27 seconds after the resumption of play. It would be the second fastest-ever goal in the second half of a match at the European Championships.

Germany 2-0 Denmark: Die Mannschaft strike twice to knock out Denmark

A 20-minute lightning delay would be the centre-piece of a clash which saw Germany strike twice against the Danes and progress to the quarter-finals of UEFA Euro 2024 thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala. The tournament hosts began the game on the front foot, with Schmeichel being involved to keep the game level before the 30 minute-mark.

Yet following a weather delay, the Danes thought they took the lead through Andersen, but his goal would be narrowly ruled out for offside in the build-up of play. VAR would intervene once more, this time for a handball on Andersen only minutes later, with Kai Havertz stepping up and converting his penalty. The Germans extended their lead only 15 minutes later, as Jamal Musiala curled an impressive effort past Kasper Schmeichel
