With the international break drawing to a close, we take a look at the final set of matches in CONMEBOL, with the ten countries continuing their 2026 World Cup Qualifying campaign. On a busy Tuesday, headlined by a big clash between Argentina and Brazil, plenty of Ligue 1 McDonald's players saw the pitch, including in the big clash in Buenos Aires.

Nicolás Tagliafico had an assist as Argentina sealed their place in the 2026 World Cup

Tagliafico, Almada help Argentina to a big win

Despite having already qualified before kickoff because of other results in the group, Argentina, even without the injured Lionel Messi, were in no mood to go easy on Brazil. In front of a buoyant home crowd at the Bombonera, manager Lionel Scaloni made few changes to his eleven, again selecting the Olympique Lyonnais duo of Nicolás Tagliafico and Thiago Almada at left back and left wing, respectively. Almada was coming off an impressive performance, having scored the game-winner against Uruguay last weekend, but it was Tagliafico who would prove decisive in this match, setting up Giuliano Simeone for his team's final goal in a 4-1 win.

With the result, Argentina remain eight points clear of Ecuador in second, while Brazil are fourth, level on points with Uruguay. Other Ligue 1 players involved in the match included Facundo Medina (RC Lens), who replaced Tagliafico with fifteen minutes left, and Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain), who played the full 90 in the Selecão's defence.

Another clean sheet for Pacho's Ecuador

Two Ligue 1 McDonald's players were in action in Santiago as Chile hosted Ecuador. For Paris Saint-Germain defender Willian Pacho and the visitors, it was another crucial point to help them stay second, while Toulouse FC's Gabriel Suazo's Chile still have work to do as they sit bottom of the group. In Venezuela, Suazo's Toulouse teammate Cristián Casseres came off the bench in a 1-0 home win over Peru that saw the Vinotinto edge into the playoff position thanks to a Salomón Rondón penalty.
