The 2024 Copa América enters Matchday 2 with Group A playing their matches on Tuesday. Did you miss any of the action? Here's a recap.
Canada 1-0 Peru
After losing to Argentina on Matchday 1, Canada needed to secure points in their matchup against Peru. The Peruvians had a scoreless draw against Chile, so they secured one point in their first game of the tournament. LOSC Lille standout Jonathan David was in the starting 11 for the Canadians, and he proved crucial.
Both teams played a scoreless game in the first 45 minutes, as Canada had five total shots while Peru countered with one total shot. In the second half, Les Rouges received a boost as Peru went down to 10 men following a red card from Miguel Araujo in the 59th minute.
Canada took advantage of being up a player as David would break the scoreless match with a goal in the 74th minute. Jesse Marsch and his team would hold onto the result and take all three points heading into the final matchday against Chile on Saturday at Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
